Please don't take it straight from the musical's website. If you seen it tell me a little about it. :D Thank YouWhat Is BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL About?
Well, in 1984 there was a miners strike in Britain, and one of the worst hit areas was the North East of England. Billy is a boy whose father and brother are both miners. His dad makes him go to boxing lessons, which he hates, and one day he comes across a ballet class. He ends up joining in and absolutely loving in. Problem is, he's a boy from the North East, and boys from the North East do not dance. But he's in love with it, and instead of going to boxing, he goes to ballet. He has a real talent for it, and his teacher thinks he should try out for the Royal Ballet School. Problem is, he'll have to pay to get there, and his dad is on strike, his mam's dead and he can't afford to. I won't say any more, but I went to see it in the West End and it was amazing. My Granda was out on strike then, and my mam cried. The dancing is brilliant. The songs are brilliant. Definitely one of the best shows I've seen.
