For any acting auditions, when your agent is sent the casting breakdowns from the film or theatre company they are informed what ages they want. They wouldn't send you the details of the audition unless you were in the right age group and had the right look.

In the very rare cases of genuine open auditions, the details and requirements are always clearly stated in the advertisement, because they haven't time to deal with unsuitable actors.
For Billy, it's 12 or 13, but a lot of it depends on height and if your voice has matured yet.
