(the movie)
i don't dance but in the summer i'm off for 3 months, so if i practised everyday, would i be able to get as good as he is - with lessons also? How long would it take to be able to dance like billy elliot?
The young man who played Billy Elliot in the movie was essentially a tap dancer. His ballet was a bit rough to be honest. The musical play on the other hand had 3 fabulously trained ballet boys in the part. Boys dance ballet much differently than girls. Their center of gravity is in their shoulders giving them the ability to do multiple turns with ease. They also have stronger leg muscles and can jump higher. Girls on the other hand tend to be more flexible and graceful.
In 3 months you would not be able to do the turns he did. A boy dancing for three months couldn't either. Ballet is all about corrections so class is the most important thing. Practicing on your own may only reinforce mistakes and you would not have the proper dance flooring (sprung or floating) at home. Try to take more then one lesson a week. 5 days would be great, but 3 or even 2 would be much better than just taking one class. Two classes doesn't make you twice as good but more like 3 or 4 times as good as taking only 1 class. The more classes you take the better you will be. Do your stretching at home and work your feet as well with a theraband. It will make a huge difference.
it depends on your ability, it probably would take years and years of training though to be that good. How long would it take to be able to dance like billy elliot?
My friend was almost Billy Elliot it was down to three boys and he didnt get chosen. But he has been dancing since he was three and he is now 11. Dances 6 out of 7 days a week- Ballet, contemporary, tap, and hip hop. .... 3 months wont be long enough but if you keep going with it you could definately get there.
